American hamburger chain Shake Shack to open in Istanbul

Famous American hamburger chain, Shake Shack, is coming to Istanbul.

Eater reports that Shake Shack will open in Istanbul in spring 2013. The new location will be in the Tunel neighborhood and will be operated by Shaya, owned by M.H. Alshaya, an international franchise operator that also manages Shake Shack’s other locations in the Middle East.

The New York-based chain from Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality group currently operates burger joints across North America and the Middle East. The Spring 2013 project will be the company’s first restaurant in Turkey.

Shake Shack is a modern day “roadside” burger stand serving the most delicious burgers, hot dogs, frozen custard, beer, wine and more! They use the finest local ingredients to make their version of much-loved American classics.

Shake Shack opened its windows in Madison Square Park in 2004 and immediately became a neighborhood fixture, with locals, tourists and people from all walks of life gathering to enjoy some Shack goodness.

The company has announced plans to open in London, and have already spread to Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Miami.
