The 33rd International Istanbul Book Fair will be held between November 8 and 16 at the TÜYAP Fair and Convention Center, organized by TÜYAP Fairs in partnership with the Publishers Association of Turkey.
The theme for this year’s fair will be “100 Years of Turkish Cinema” in celebration of the centennial of Turkish cinema. The Book Fair’s Advisory Board has also named doyenne writer and film critic Atilla Dorsay as its Writer of Honor.
A number of panel discussions and other events will be held with Dorsay throughout the event at the TÜYAP Fair and Convention Center in the Büyükçekmece district of Istanbul. A book and an exhibition on both his life and his selected works will also be presented.
Guest of Honor: Hungary
The Guest of Honor at the International Hall (Hall 1) of the Istanbul Book Fair will be Hungary between November 8 and 11, 2014. Events held by Hungary will focus on classical and contemporary works to promote Hungarian literature, culture and arts to Turkish visitors.
New in the Fair: Music and Cuisine
Since this year’s theme is dedicated to cinema, visitors will be greeted with the soundtracks of unforgettable Turkish films.
Another new aspect of the Istanbul Book Fair will be the “Cuisine” that will be open between November 8 and 11 in the International Hall. The program for the Cuisine will be announced shortly, and will include interactive cooking shows and talks with gourmet writers. The famous Hungarian cooking show host and writer Zsofia Mautner will share her secrets for the most delectable local recipes.
The 33rd International Istanbul Book Fair is set to be held concurrently with the 24th Istanbul Art Fair-ARTIST 2014.
