Eric Clapton coming to Istanbul
Guitar virtuoso Eric Clapton is scheduled to perform in Istanbul at Santralistanbul on June 13, 2010.
The Clapton announcement adds to the tally of major concerts coming to Istanbul in 2010. If early trends are any indication, 2010 may be the best year for concerts yet.
Two legendary names of Rock music, Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood, will perform in Istanbul in June 2010.
The two Grammy winning musicians will give a concert at Santralistanbul on June 13 within the scope of their European Tour 2010.
Both Winwood and Clapton have long and prestigious music careers with countless honors and awards attached to their names.
Eric Clapton was raised in a musical household. His grandmother played piano and his uncle and mother both enjoyed listening to the sounds of the big bands. By 1958, Rock and Roll had exploded onto the world. For his 13th birthday, Eric asked for a guitar. In his more than 40 year career, Eric Clapton has received many awards. He is the only triple inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame (as a member of both the Yardbirds and Cream and as a solo artist). He has also won or shared in eighteen Grammy Awards.
Winwood is an English singer-songwriter who performs and writes rock, blues-rock and jazz. He sings with a tenor voice and is a multi-instrumentalist who plays Hammond organ, guitar, bass and other string instruments.
Clapton and Winwood, who have been close friends for many years, founded the band “Blind Faith” in 1969. The band broke up after releasing their one and only album, “Blind Faith,” in the same year.
Due to high ticket demand throughout Europe, additional sales in many European countries have been announced.
