Queen enjoys Bosporus tour

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth and her husband toured the Bosphorus by boat on the final day of her visit, accompanied by President Gül and his wife.

Queen Elizabeth and her husband were in Istanbul yesterday. The Queen went on a boat tour of the Bosphorus, visited Kabataş High School in Ortaköy as well as the Istanbul Modern Museum.

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II spent the third day of her trip to Turkey in Istanbul. Queen Elizabeth II came to Istanbul with Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh yesterday. While special teams were deployed along rooftops during her visit, police helicopters also did rounds above them. The Queen and the Prince were welcomed by the authorities and their first visit was to Kabataş High School. The Queen attended the ‘Joint School’s Science Projects’ event taking place at the high school.

Queen Elizabeth II is paying an official visit to Turkey for the second time after 37 years. She said yesterday, in support of Turkey’s bid to join the EU, “Turkey is uniquely positioned as a bridge between East and West at a crucial time for the European Union and the world in general . . . playing a key role in promoting peace, political stability and economic development in some of the world’s most unsettled areas.”
