The new movie The Topkapi Affair staring Angelina Jolie and Pierce Brosnan will start the shooting in Topkapi Palace,
Istanbul.
MGM studios decided to start the new production in 2012. The Topkapi Affair will be the sequel to The Thomas Crown Affair whereby Pierce Brosnan acted the rich man who liked stealing precious paintings. Since it is not allowed to have love scenes in The Harem, the production company will set up a special film set for these scenes.
Jolie was getting excited she would have the chance to see the biggest diamond of the world which is also kept in the palace.
‘’The Kasikci Diamond” is the pride of the Topkapi Palace Museum and its most valuable single exhibit is the 86-carat pear-shaped Spoonmaker Diamond. Surrounded by a double-row of 49 Old Mine cut diamonds and well spotlighted, it hangs in a glass case on the wall of one of the rooms of the Treasury.
The story of Kasikci Diamond is; “In the year 1669, a very poor man found a pretty stone in the rubbish heap of Egrikapi in Istanbul. He bartered it to a spoonmaker for three wooden spoons.
The spoonmaker sold the stone to a jeweler for ten silver coins.
