Uber is hard at work to make Istanbul more accessible by offering reliable and comfortable transport options. Today, on the day of their 1-year anniversary in Istanbul, they are launching UberBOAT!
The water-taxi service allows people to summon boats to ferry them across the Bosphorus Strait. Uber partnered with Istanbul boat company, Navette-Tezman Holding, to provide the maritime service.
Columnist, presenter and wellness trainer Ece Vahapoğlu and journalist and writer Onur Baştürk were the first ones to try UberBOAT service in Istanbul. With the tap of a button, they were able to request an UberBOAT and ride to their destination enjoying a magnificent view of the Bosphorus without any traffic.
UberBOAT fares as based on distance (sea mile) and time and will be automatically charged to your credit card at the end of a trip.
Uber’s water-taxi service will start at 50 Liras ($19) and each boat has capacity for 7 to 10 passengers. A trip from the Ciragan Hotel, a converted Ottoman palace, to the closest part of the coastline to Istanbul’s main airport will cost around 400 Liras.
