Vanessa Paradis in Istanbul
Famed French pop-princess, star actress and face of Chanel, Vanessa Paradis will come to Istanbul to perform at the Haliç Congress Center on Feb. 7 as part of Good Music in Town Festival.
Well-known for a string of bestselling albums and a swish-sexy batch of films behind her – Vanessa Paradis first become internationally famous with her hit “Joe le Taxi” in 1987 at the age of 14.
Paradis will come to Turkey as part of the event, organized by MAP Communications.
It’s her second time in Istanbul. Vanessa visited Istanbul for the first time in 1999 to shoot her scenes for the movie “Girl On The Bridge”.
The actress, model and singer, who has been in a relationship with famous actor Johnny Depp since 1998, moved to the United States in 1992 to work with rock musician Lenny Kravitz to work on an album in English.
Written and produced by Kravitz, that album, “Vanessa Paradis,” topped the French chart; one of the singles from it was “Be My Baby,” which hit number five in France and gave her another Top 10 U.K. number.
In April 1994, Paradis filmed “Élisa” under the direction of Jean Becker. The film was a big success in France and was also released internationally. In 2004, she promoted Chanel’s new handbags and the next year she modeled for Chanel again for “The New Mademoiselle” handbag. In 2008 she modeled for Miu Miu.
“Young Victoria” director Jean-Marc Vallée recently cast Paradis in a starring role in his new film, “Café de flore.” Paradis will play a mother in the 1960s with a Down syndrome child. The title is slated for release in 2011.
In 2011, Paradis will embark on an international tour that includes performances in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and the Istanbul concert. Tickets for the concert are available at Biletix.
