The ‘World Press Photo 2011,’ the planet’s largest press photo exhibit, is on display in Istanbul. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Dutch Consulate General.
The world’s largest and the most prestigious press photo exhibition opened Tuesday in Istanbul. The” World Press Photo 2011” exhibition was inaugurated at the Forum Istanbul with support from the Dutch Consulate General in Istanbul.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Dutch Consul General Onno Kervers said more than 100,000 photos had been sent to the exhibition and he was sure that it would give information about different cultures in the world.
As part of the exhibition, there will also be workshops for children at the Forum Istanbul shopping mall. Photos taken by 55 photographers from 23 countries in 10 categories will be on display until Sept. 28.
Every year following the World Press Photo Contest, the winning images go on tour. In April, the exhibition was officially opened in Amsterdam and can be seen at venues around the globe until March of the next year. The tour visits approximately 100 cities in 45 countries and is still expanding.
